Disaster responseNPS National is developing a public-private initiative designed to deploy persistent aerial sensing infrastructure to support wildfire monitoring, border awareness, disaster response, and search and rescue.
[ About ]■
National Public Safety Corp. (NPS) is a Canadian public safety technology company focused on developing sovereign sensing and operational intelligence capabilities for government. The company’s flagship initiative, Project Sentinel, is designed to provide persistent aerial sensing, operational intelligence analysis, and AI-enabled decision support as a service to public safety agencies.
Canada’s Public Safety Challenge
Growing operational demands
Wildfires, border monitoring, and disasters require persistent awareness across vast regions.
Limited sensing infrastructure
Current sensing capabilities are episodic and fragmented across agencies.
Slow procurement timelines
Deploying new systems through traditional procurement can take years.
Persistent sensing infrastructure is becoming a foundational capability for public safety, disaster response, and national resilience. Project Sentinel allows Canada to begin developing this capability today through pilot deployments that combine government oversight with private capital.
[A New Approach ]■
Project Sentinel
Project Sentinel introduces a pilot-deployment model allowing governments to test persistent sensing infrastructure while maintaining policy oversight, regulatory authority, and data governance.
-
Developing domestic sensing infrastructure and operational data systems that allow Canada to independently monitor and respond to public safety challenges across its territory.
-
Providing persistent situational awareness that can assist governments in wildfire monitoring, disaster response, border awareness, and search-and-rescue operations.
-
Establishing new roles for Canadian operators, engineers, analysts, and technicians in the emerging field of public safety sensing and operational intelligence.
-
Demonstrating how private investment and government partnership can accelerate the development and deployment of critical public safety capabilities.
Operational sensing data generated through Project Sentinel deployments will support the development of Canadian AI models for public safety missions, strengthening sovereign capability in a strategically important technology domain.
[ Endorsed Pilot Framework ]■
“Please consider this letter is an expression of the Government of Ontario’s interest in having your departments [Federal Ministries of Defence and Public Safety] jointly engage with NPS National to explore a potential partnership for border security and defence applications as well as broader public safety objectives such as wildfire detection and prevention.”
Ontario Solicitor General,
Honourable Michael Kerzner
